Glad to hear it was useful.

I was trying to strike a balance in writing style to catch both lighting designers and everyone else in terms of accessibility. Glad to hear some of it landed, and yes, some of it was intentionally over your head.

I'm a bit behind on reading here. While much of this series was over my head (or maybe I should just say that it's all theory for me right now since I don't have a bunch of cans and dimmers to experiment with!), I have thoroughly enjoyed it. There are many parallels in what you do as a lighting designer and what I do as a music director in terms of the thought process that goes into it. Perhaps a better analogy would be what I do as an arranger or composer. Knowing the palette available and knowing how to use it is absolutely essential.

Thanks for taking the time to write all this out, Lucas. I admire your work and have a much greater respect for you (and all lighting designers) after having read this series. It will be interesting to see if I start critiquing light designs in my mind now thinking, "Lucas said that was not a good idea." ;) hehe

I read your blog on my RSS feed, so I haven't commented before, but I just had to let you know how useful, interesting and helpful I've found this series on color. I'm only a hobbyist in lighting design (a bit of this and that in college, not much since then) but I know that any show I put on from now on will be better for having read this piece. Thanks!
